ETHYLENE
PYROLYSIS (cracking) COILS
Duraloy also has a long history of manufacturing high
quality ethylene pyrolysis and other process coils.
Depending on the application, Duraloy has manufactured
coils in alloys such as MO-RE-10MA®, MO-RE-40MA®,
Supertherm®, HK-40 and CY-40 alloys. The coils, which are made up
of a variety of centrifugal tubes and static castings
welded to form a coil, are fully fabricated and tested
in our Scottdale, PA facility.

AUTOMATIC
TIG WELDING
Many of Duraloy's petrochemical weld joints are produced
using our state-of-the-art automatic TIG welding equipment.
Duraloy uses the Dimetrics "Gold Trac®" Dual-Sync
Pulse Automatic TIG Welding System. This welding
system employs a computer-controlled dual wire feed
that increases weld deposition by about 30% per pass,
thus reducing welding times and reducing heat input
into the weld joint. This process has also reduced
the weld repair rate to almost zero.
Duraloy has recently purchased matching orbital
equipment to make the tube-to-fitting "closure" welds.

PETROCHEMICAL
ELBOWS
These elbows are statically cast in a variety of petrochemical
alloys, like Duraloy's proprietary alloys MO-RE-10®,
MO-RE-10MA®, MO-RE-40MA® and TMA 6300®.
The elbows are cast then machined with a weld prep
bevel prior to being high-pressure hydro tested and LPI inspected.
If all the tests and dimensions are acceptable per
the specifications, the elbows are sent to the fabrication
department for welding into coils, crossovers, etc.
Also, as required by the customer, some are sent
loose to serve as the customers spares.

TUBE
SHEETS
This tube sheet is to be used in the convection section
of a polypropylene furnace. The large flange across
the bottom will be drilled with bolt holes and bolted
to a structural member on the floor of the furnace
then have tubes threaded through the holes and laid
across the top of the support. The tube sheet insures
that the tubes will maintain even spacing in service
allowing the heat from the furnace to circulate evenly
around the tubes.

This
tube sheet is to be used in the convection section
of an ethylene furnace. The large flanges on both sides
will be used to secure the casting into the walls of
the furnace. The user will then have tubes threaded
through the holes and laid across the top of the support.
This tube sheet is made in HK-40 alloy.

ETHYLENE
PYROLYSIS (cracking) HAIRPINS
These are fabricated sub-assemblies
that are to be installed in an ethylene
pyrolysis furnace. The "hairpins" are
made up of two, long tube assemblies with
a 180 degree return bend fabricated onto
one end of two tubes. A guide pipe is then
fabricated onto the return bend.
Typically these assemblies are cast in an alloy
that exhibits good resistance to carburization, like
Duraloy's proprietary alloys MO-RE-10®, MO-RE-40® or
MO-RE-40MA®.

SMALL
DIAMETER TUBES
With our new "state-of-the-art" centrifugal
spinner, Duraloy is now able to produce tubes with
bored I.D.'s as small as 1.80"(46mm) and wall
thicknesses down to 0.25"(7mm).
While most of the applications for these small tubes
are in the petrochemical industry, there are many
other uses for these tubes. They can also be used
for small rollers for automatic shotblasters, furnace
supports and tube guides.

CENTRIFUGAL
CAST TUBE STANCHIONS
Duraloy produces these tube stanchions
which are used in furnaces to support process
gas tubes. The stanchions are centrifugally
cast, then have 1" (25mm) square holes
milled through the tubes. HK-40 pins or then
cast and inserted through the tubes to for
a "ladder" effect. The base of the
stanchions are inserted into holes in the furnace
floor and the process tubes are threaded through
the "rungs" of the stanchion.
These stanchions are cast in ASTM A297,
Grade HK-40 alloy.

SMALL
TUBE SUPPORTS
Duraloy can produce tube supports in all sizes, from
smaller ones, like the supports shown here, to very
large castings. All of our tube supports are capable
of meeting very stringent NDT requirements. Some supports
only require LPI on the surfaces, but others require
radiography of critical areas to insure sound castings.
In addition to manufacturing the castings, Duraloy
also performs the NDT in-house.
Duraloy can produce tube sheets up to 12 feet (3.65
meters) in length and up to 4.5 feet (1.38 meters)
in height. Typical tube support alloys include HK-40,
ASTM A297 Grade HH and Duraloy's proprietary alloys
22H® and Super 22H®.

PETROCHEMICAL
FURNACE HOOKS
These hooks, cast in Duraloy's proprietary alloy Super
22H®, are used in petrochemical furnaces to hold
tubes, assemblies, etc. The long flange part of the
hook is put through a hole in the top of the furnace
and pinned in place. The hook portion is suspended
in the furnace and can be used to support a variety
of components.
These hooks must pass a very critical radiographic
inspection to insure internal soundness.

SUPERTHERM® COILS
These coils, destined for Saudi Arabia, are cast and
fabricated in Duraloy's proprietary Supertherm® alloy.
Supertherm® is used in services that are unusually
high in operating temperature.
These coils are cast, bored, welded, radiographed
pneumatic tested and trial assembled in our
shop in Scottdale, Pennsylvania.

SPACER
BLOCKS
These statically cast blocks are used in a fashion
similar to tube support sheets. Cast in a variety of
heat resistant alloys, spacer blocks are placed between
tubes installed in a high temperature furnace to prevent
the tubes from coming into contact with each other
during use.

TUBE
HANGERS
These hangers are bolted to the inside walls of a cracking
furnace and are used to support tubes while in service.
The hangers are to provide support for the tubes, which
at high temperatures, have a tendency to sag or droop,
causing premature failures in the tubes. These hangers
are cast in HK-40 alloy.
